Composed in 1985, for clarinet and piano by Richard Rodney Bennett. This piece was commissioned by the Cheltenham Festival, with additional funds from South West Arts and the Royal Over-Seas League. It was first performed on 17th July 1986 by Nicholas Cox and Vanessa Latarche, as part of the festival, at the Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.
