Czech composer and folklorist Leos Janácek's (1854-1928) IDYLL for string orchestra is his second surviving large-scale instrumental work, written by the then 24-year-old composer in the summer 1878 and completed on August 29. The work premiered on December 15th of that year in Brno under Janácek's direction with AntonĂn Dvorák in the audience, whose style was a great influence on the young composer and on this piece specifically.  Strings in set: 8-8-5-5-5.
