Ferdinand Ries was a pupil of Ludwig van Beethoven's in Vienna between 1803 and 1805. The G-minor Clarinet Trio was written in 1810 when Ries had relocated back to his native Bonn. The present edition is based on the first edition in parts (Bonn 1811), which is housed in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich. A few obvious errors in this source were corrected for this publication.
