Introduction et Rondo capriccioso, Op. 28 is dedicated to the Spanish violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate who gave Saint-Saëns much advice on what is technically possible on the instrument. The composer's acquaintance with Sarasate certainly was the reason for his penchant for Spanish atmosphere and color in this effective bravura piece. Solo Violin and Orchestra.
